Income Tax Advice - Procedure
We are not allowed to give out income tax advice of any kind to patrons!
We are not qualified to give authoritative tax advice and so are prohibited from doing so. Bad advice given out
inadvertently could come back to haunt us if a patron complains that his income tax woes are our fault because he
followed advice that we gave him.
We only provide tax forms. We can show the patrons where the forms are. We cannot suggest which form to use. Let
them know when the AARP will be here to help with tax questions. They may also call the toll-free number for the IRS.
Please be polite but firm when asked for tax advice by patrons. We are doing this for their protection and for our
protection.
