Overdue, Lost, or Damaged Materials

Materials should be returned on or before the date due.  All materials are stamped with a due date.  Materials
should be returned in the same condition in which they left the library with reasonable wear from reasonable
use.  Fines will be assessed for materials returned late, lost or unreasonably damaged.

Patrons are responsible for all materials that have been checked out on their library card.  Failure to return
materials or pay assessed fines and fees will result in suspension of library privileges including check out and
computer use until the account is cleared.

As a general rule, the library will not accept donation materials to replace lost or damaged materials.

If the patron is a minor under 18, any contact regarding overdue material will be made to the parent or guardian.

Patrons who fail to return library materials may permanently lose library privileges and may be subject to Justice
Court proceedings or having the matter turned over to a collection agency at the discretion of the director and
the Board of Trustees.  Failure to receive overdue notices does not negate a patron’s responsibility to return
library materials.

Patrons will receive written notification from the director before any proceedings are started.  Failure to respond
may make litigation necessary.  Patrons will then be responsible for all overdue materials, assessed fines/fees
as well as court or recovery costs
